Griffith Black junior Zane Hogan has had a great year out on the football field which has culminated in being selected in the Australian Schoolboys.

They trounced Queensland II on the opening day before falling to NSW I in game two, but they held on for a gutsy 14-11 win over Victoria.

While the ACT wasn’t able to defend their title, as they fell in the third-placed playoff 21-0 to Queensland, Hogan and Driti were instrumental in the ACT side success with their hard work in the front row.

The hard work Hogan show saw him selected in the in the Australian Schoolboys side who took on Tonga and then the powerhouse in New Zealand.

The Australian side was able to pick up a convincing 53-10 win over Tonga before they fell narrowly to their trans-Tasman rivals in a 22-10 loss.

Hogan’s impact on the side during the loss to New Zealand was recognised with the forward picking up the Merv and Iris Allen award for the best team player.

The talented youngster is now preparing to make a trip across to the United Kingdom with the Australian Schools side at the end of November. Hogan will come up against the best of the young talent from the UK as they start the tour against the Munster and Ulster Academies before taking on Ireland’s under 19s. The team will then travel to Scotland to take on the Scotland Top Six Schools Selection and Scotland under 19s.
