Unsettled but seasonably warm weather will prevail throughout the United Kingdom this week with the risk for at least one windstorm.

Contrasting weather will prevail through Tuesday as rain and gusty winds persist across the northern Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Localized flooding will be a concern in western Scotland, where more than 100 mm (4 inches) will be possible.

Meanwhile, areas from southern Ireland through Wales and England can expect largely dry weather with unseasonable warmth.

The highest temperatures on Tuesday will be found around London and the Southeast, where highs will range from 19-21 C (66-69 F).

A normal high temperature in early October ranges from 13 C (55 F) in Scotland to 16 C (60 F) in southern England.

A brief shift in the weather is expected on Wednesday as dry and warm weather prevails throughout the entire country.

Afternoon temperatures will range from 19-23 C (67-74 F) with the highest temperatures across southern and central England.

Wet weather will return by Thursday, with spells of rain across all of the British Isles causing temperatures to fall several degrees.

A potent storm will target the region from Thursday night into Friday, bringing the risk for damaging winds, travel disruptions and localized flooding.

Areas most at risk for damaging winds will be across Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Wind gusts of 60-80 mph (97-129 km/h) will be possible from late Thursday night through Frida y.

Disruption to travel may include ferry cancellations, flight delays and cancellations and bridge closures during the worst of the storm.

Elsewhere, locally damaging winds will be possible, with gusts of 40-50 mph (65-80 km/h) throughout England and Wales.

Downpours will bring the risk for flash flooding throughout Ireland and the United Kingdom.

The unsettled weather will not come to an end following Friday’s storm, as Tropical Storm Leslie will approach western Europe this weekend.

Areas from the British Isles to Spain and Portugal should closely monitor this potent tropical system for potential impacts.

Leslie may follow on the heels of Friday's storms and bring a second round of damaging winds and flooding to Ireland and the United Kingdom as early as Saturday.

If Leslie is slower to approach, it could instead be swept into Portugal and Spain, allowing for a period of more tranquil weather across the British Isles from Saturday into Monday.
