Messages of support for Jamie Carragher following spitting row
The head of Jamie Carragher âs 23 Foundation says the messages of support have been flooding in for the beleguered Liverpool legend.
The former Reds defender has been suspended by Sky Sports after he was filmed spitting at the car of a Manchester United fan who was goading following Liverpoolâs defeat at Old Trafford.
Carragher has since apologised for his actions describing it as âa moment of madnessâ.
Mike Lepic is in charge of the Foundation which has helped thousands of Merseyside youngsters and an array of local charities since it was launched in 2009.
âFollowing Jamieâs heartfelt and sincere apology, weâve had messages of support from people all over the world, including many supporters of other clubs,â Lepic told the Liverpool Echo .
â Here at the 23 Foundation our focus is, and will always be, to reach out to as many kids and their families as possible. This was always Jamieâs goal when he set up his Foundation a decade ago, to give back, never forgetting his roots.
âLast year we helped over 1,100 families around the world and worked on hundreds of other good causes, including helping hospitals and foodbanks.
âWe have worked closely with Jamie Carragher for many years and in that time he has been a model professional respected by many. He has given hundreds of hours of his time to help others going above and beyond on many occasions.
âAs a proud family man and loving father of two children, Jamie wishes to continue to support and help improve the lives of others.âSource: Google News
