Father who tried to kill his four children with a hammer before driving them into pub wall is jailed for life
A father who tried to kill his four young children with a hammer before driving them into a pub wall at 92mph has been jailed for life.
Owen Scott, who a court heard had been having a drug-induced psychotic episode, was ordered to serve a minimum of 14 years for attempted murder.
The 29-year-old had driven his three children and step daughter 250 miles from his home in Fawley, Hampshire, to Thurgoland, South Yorkshire, where he hit the wall of The Travellers pub.
He was arrested at the scene of the crash last August.
His seven-year-old daughter lost a large section of her skull in the attack and will be wheelchair-dependant for the rest of her life, partially paralysed, prosecutor Simon Kealey QC told Sheffield Crown Court. She remains in hospital six months later.
Scott's other two children, two boys aged 21 months and nine months, and his eight-year-old step daughter, also suffered severe injuries from which they are still recovering.Source: Google News
