A woman was also injured, but her injuries are not believed to be life threatening and she is in a stable condition.

Forces in this region are also on the alert with two, Durham and North Yorkshire repeating the Humberside appeal on Twitter.

Officers said they had now found the wanted man's blue Vauxhall Meriva and thanked the public for their assistance.

Earlier Chief Inspector Andy Parsons, of Humberside Police, spoke directly to Mr Lawrence and said: “Anthony, it’s vital that we speak to you about this incident as soon as possible and I would urge you to go straight to your nearest police station so that we can do this.

“Avoiding speaking to us could only make matters worse for you in the long run.”

He added: “We are still appealing for anyone who believes they have seen Mr Lawrence to call us immediately on 999.

“While we still believe this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the wider public, please do not approach him yourself.”

Mr Lawrence is described as white, 55-years-old, around 5ft 10in tall, with close cropped dark hair and large buil d.
