Arsenal receive boost in Malcom chase as 'Tottenham drop interest in £45m Bordeaux winger'

Arsenal have reportedly received a boost in their pursuit of Bordeaux winger Malcom.

The Gunners have earmarked the Brazilian as a replacement for wantaway Alexis Sanchez who looks set to leave the Emirates this month.

Bordeaux have quoted a fee of around £45million for the 20-year-old, but according to the Daily Mail, Arsenal's chances of landing him have been boosted after their local rivals Tottenham dropped out of the chase for the playmaker.

Spurs are said to be focusing their January spending plans in other areas, but Manchester United have previously shown an interest in Malcom.

Eddie Howe brings in Arsenal legend Thierry Henry for pep talk ahead of Gunners clash

Henry has been parachuted in by the Cherries

Eddie Howe hopes words of wisdom from Arsenal legend Thierry Henry will help Bournemouth shoot down the Frenchman’s beloved Gunners.

Henry held a motivational pep talk with Howe’s players while on a recent trip to the south coast on behalf of the French Football Federation.

Bournemouth boss Howe, whose team take on Henry’s old club tomorrow, said: “We got Thierry in to talk to the players as we do from time to time with various people, not just footballers.

“Thierry was excellent, he spoke at length to the players about his career and how he was so successful. It was a really beneficial talk.

Arsenal fans are all getting deja vu as Manchester United ramp up interest in Alexis Sanchez

Sanchez looks set to leave Arsenal

The Alexis Sanchez all-Manchester tug of war seems to be gathering pace.

Whereas at one point it looked as though the Chilean was certain to join Manchester City - where he could link up with his old Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola - he is now being linked with a move to Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho's men seem able to offer Sanchez more money, and could just turn his head as he ponders the possibility of more playing time at Old Trafford.

City would still consider themselves favourites to land his signature though, and that appears as though it would go down well with Gunners fans.

Because they don't want to repeat of the Robin van Persie situation.

It was back in 2012 when Dutch star Van Persie, then 29 - the same age that Sanchez is now - moved to Old Trafford because "the little boy inside him" told him to do it, and he promptly ended up winning the league title in his first season.

And Gunners fans are worried that the same thing could happen again.

Very worried.
