Ant McPartlin cuts gloomy figure as he walks dogs in last public appearance before announcing divorce
Fans of Ant McPartlin will be relieved to see the troubled host in a snug jacket enjoying walkies with his pooch.
Theyâll also be happy to know he and Dec are returning on Saturday Night Takeaway.
It had been feared Ant may have taken a break after his drug rehab stint and his marriage collapse.
The photos were the last time Ant was pictured in public before he confirmed he is is filing for divorce from wife Lisa Armstrong after 11 years of marriage.
He's decided to split from his wife âto do the right thing for his healthâ, according to The Sun.
They wed in 2006 and have known each other for 23 years, but the coupleâs relationship has been under severe strain since Ant entered rehab for drug addiction last summer.
In a statement released to The Sun on Sunday , his spokesman said: âIn response to the recent speculation in the media, Ant is very sad to announce that, after 11 years, he is ending his marriage to Lisa McPartlin.
âAnt asks for privacy at this difficult time, for both himself, Lisa and their immediate families.
"No further statement will be made.â
It was Antâs decision to end the marriage after a series of emotional meetings with his wife.
A source close to the Geordie star added to the publication: âThis was a tough decision for Ant, but he has to do the right thing for his health.
"It hasnât happened overnight, they have been having problems for ages.
"The marriage has effectively been struggling for eight months â" heâs given it a good go.
âTheyâve met up and spoken about it a number of times and this is the decision he has made.
âThey are getting divorced. He is obviously really upset about it.â
It comes after reports Ant and Lisa recently held emotional crisis talks.
Ant, who m oved out of their £1.6million mansion last year and currently lives in a rented property, was said to be working out how they could best move forward.
A source reportedly said: "Lisa has struggled to accept that this is the end of the road. She thought at first that talking things through might help them resolve things.Video Loading Click to play Tap to play The video will start in 8Cancel Play now
âBut she is gradually realising that as far as he is concerned, thereâs no way back.â
When Ant finished his stint in rehab following his battle with an addiction to painkillers, he moved into a rented property rather than back into the family home.
The source added to The Sun: â The time away from Lisa has given Ant a chance to think and decide how it would be best for them to move forward.
âAs painful as he knows a split will be, he is now sure it is the right thing to do."
They've not been seen together for months, and Lisa didn't join Ant and his telly partner Declan Donnelly in Australia while they were filming I'm A Celebrity.
Last week Lisa tweeted an image that many thought was referring to her relationship with Ant, which was tested by his addiction to prescription pills and subsequent rehab stint last year.
Taking to Twitter on New Year's Day, Lisa shared a Bitmoji cartoon of herself holding up a stinting rubbish bag with '2017' written on the side.
Lisa also liked a tweet sent by a fan which read: "Sending you hugs sweetheart - even in the darkest of situations you always need to find the positives. They are there when you are ready to see them. Happy New Year lovely lady."
It was previously reported that Lisa admitted she is "much happier" now they live apart â" sparking fears their 11-year marriage really was over.
Lisa, 41, confided in friends that Ant's public battle with painkiller Âaddiction left her "emotionally drained" and "weighed down" with worry.Source: Google News
